Suppression Division Badges

Fire Line Permit.  October 25, 1906 – The Reno City Council authorizes the Reno FD to carry ropes and stakes to cordon off the streets to prevent unauthorized persons from interfering with fire scene operations.  This badge was likely issued to insurance men, newsmen or City Councilmen to allow them access through the fire lines.

RFD Museum collection.  Donated by Louie Oar.  Given to him by Leo Caldwell.  Used in the 1940s and 1950s for show checks to insure theaters were not over crowded.

RFD Hat or Cap Badge circa 1908

This style badge can be seen on the uniform hats in the portraits in the RFD History book published by the Reno Firemen's Pension and Relief Fund in 1908 and reissued in 1975 by the Ladies Auxiliary to the Reno Firefighters Local 731.  See pages 45 and 57 for the best examples.
