| Sta. 6 (Airport)
This station was under construction June 28, 1975 and opened soon after. This station replaced the old station 6 that was closed because of construction of the new US 395 Freeway. It was opened as a Reno FD station and the Reno FD had responsibility for the airport. The Reno FD covered both the airport and district 6 from this station. The Airport Authority of Washoe County (AAWC) took responsibility for Airport Crash Fire Rescue services from the City of Reno on Dec. 29, 1980. The Reno FD continued to cover District 6 from this station until a new station 6 was built on Mira Loma Dr. in 1984. |
